Welcome to Savta

Savta means grandmother in Hebrew — and like every real grandmother, our story begins in the kitchen, filled with the aroma of roasted red peppers, eggplant, and fresh garlic.

We are Dov and Jeannet Avnon, and Savta is far more than a brand to us.
It’s a tribute to family, to tradition, and to the timeless craft of cooking with love, patience, and heart.

These recipes come from my mother’s kitchen, where she shared her secrets with care and pride. What once began as a single jar made for friends has grown into a collection of artisanal spreads and sauces — each with its own story, character, and warmth.

In 2014, we lost our son Itamar in the MH17 tragedy. He was on his way back to Melbourne, Australia, where he studied business.
To honor his life, his spirit, and his entrepreneurial heart, we created Itamar Cooking Company — the home behind all Savta products.
